April 30, dinner. Floor of the Las Vegas airport, on my way to Dallas. Something I found in my backpack that I picked up in Paris a few days before. Would have been better with a cocktail, absolutely. I did win $24, though.

May 1, breakfast. Bad coffee at the Radisson in Dallas.

May 1, breakfast. A fresh sweet roll at the Radisson. Another lackluster performance. No almonds, no chocolate, not really even any butter.

May 1, lunch. Some weird food at the Radisson in Dallas. This was little sausage pieces in red sauce. Not bad, although it's hard to ruin sausage. Garlic bread.

May 1, lunch. Tiramisu. Not bad for a banquet kitchen, but not nearly creamy enough. I suspect they left out the uncooked egg yolk.

May 1, snack. A pretzel, Radisson Dallas.

May 1, snack. A Mocha Freeze from the Au Bon Pain in the Dallas airport. On the way back to Las Vegas.

May 1, dinner. A roll from Enoteca San Marco (in the Venetian). Not as good as I had hoped.

May 1, dinner. Grissini

May 1, dinner, Enoteca San Marco in the Venetian. A bit of Arrabiata. This was spicier than any I have ever had before, which wasn't TOO hot, but it was probably spicier than it should have been. Otherwise, good tomato flavor.

May 1, dessert. Some sorbetto di limone.

May 2, Breakfast. From the Starbucks in the Luxor. A cappuccino freddo, but one I made myself with ice and a normal medium cap.

May 2, Brunch. At the Mandalay Bay brunch place. This place is pretty good on Sundays, and a bit less exciting every other day, but honestly the quality is not bad for a brunch. It's also $20...

May 2, brunch. Going back for seconds, including a fresh-made omlette with cheese, biscuits and gravy.

May 2, brunch. This was actually Jan's; I just had one bite. Enough.

May 2, snack. Aboard a Southwest Flight, some peanuts. I love the warning: These peanuts were processed in a facility that processes peanuts.

May 3, breakfast. Cappuccino freddo and a fresh-squeezed glass of grapefruit juice.

May 3, lunch. Taco Bron, the usual.

May 3, dinner. Appetizer of some olives stuffed with smoked salmon. These are pretty good; actually surprisingly good.

May 3, dinner. I made these little Sardinian pasta with olive oil and butter; trout fried with brown butter and almond sauce; and a red pepper/fennel slaw. Very good.

May 3, dessert. Some goat cheese brie, stilton, and a candied apricot, sliced. Served with 30 year old Quady port.

May 5, Breakfast. The usual.

May 4, Lunch. At Shlomo & Vito's Deli in Tucson. They give you pickles as an appetizer.

May 4, lunch. At Shlomo & Vito's Deli. A chopped liver sandwich on marble rye, with fries and cole slaw. The sandwich was fine (although the liver was a bit goopy), but the cole slaw was a disappointment.

May 4, snack. A little amaretto chocolate ball from Trader Joe's.

May 4, dinner. Some olives.

May 4, dinner. Hooray. Joel's Memphis-style pork ribs. An excellent batch, with ribs from the Mexican butcher in Food City.

May 4, dinner. Side dish to go with the ribs: mexican gray squash, sliced and grilled

May 4, dessert. Barbara's lemon bar. Good, quite good.

May 5, breakfast. The usual and a glass of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. Wanda not included.
