June 18, dinner. Insieme, New York. Dessert, none of which Chris could eat because he's gluten-intolerant. Little madelines. chocolate and almond biscotti slices

June 19, lunch. Skipped breakfast and had a lunch of two hot dogs and fries at Nathan's in Laguardia Airport. The fries were awful, truly soggy and no hint of crispness, almost inedible. The hot dogs similarly unflavored, totally overwhelmed by the cheese sauce and onions. Big mistake.

June 19, Dinner. Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream in Atlanta Airport. Coffee, Coffee, Buzz Buzz Buzz.

June 19, snack. Cheesy crackers. It's like cheese, only very different.

June 20, Breakfast. The usual.

June 20, Lunch. Rubio's grilled fish tacos and a few tortilla chips.

June 20, snack. Two dates.

June 20, dinner. In-n-Out Burger before watching Get Smart. Double-Double, Fries, and a half of a Chocolate Shake (shared with Jan)

June 21, Breakfast. The usual.

June 21, snack. Two dates.

June 21, lunch. A chile relleno burrito from Nico's and a Coke. Eaten at my desk. I do that a lot.

June 21, dinner. Joel's BBQ Ribs, hand-made fresh French fries (fried in lard, for best taste, with nothing but salt and pepper to season), and "BBQ Cole Slaw," from a recipe in Food Arts. Too sweet. But lots of mustard, which was good.

June 21, dessert. Fresh strawberries in season.

June 22, breakfast. The usual.

June 22, snack. A white peach. Very nice, although not perfectly in season. But in Tucson, it's really impossible to get peaches perfectly ripe.

June 22, lunch. Ribs and slaw, leftovers. I didn't eat all those ribs; I shared them with Jan.

June 22, dinner. Grilled hamburgers over at Jan's parents' house. Sweet bread-and-butter pickles.

June 22, dinner. Some watermelon.

June 22, dessert. Fresh sliced strawberries, with a splash of Cointreau and Triple Sec, on top of whipped cream.

June 23, breakfast. At Raging Sage in Tucson, a scone and iced cappuccino.

June 23, breakfast. A second iced cappuccino.

June 23, lunch. Leftover ribs and cole slaw.

June 23, snack. Half of this bag of peanuts. Never mind what the label says; these were just peanuts I picked up in Bangalore and had bouncing around my backpack.

June 23, dinner. Affetatti misti: salami, olives (including home-made ones), cheese from Normandy, California and New Zealand, peppadew peppers, grilled artichoke hearts, and three dates.

June 23, Late night snack, at Rose & Mark's. Rose made home-made moo-shu chicken and really really really good plum sauce. I had a little bit and it was great. I wish I hadn't had dinner earlier.

June 23, dessert. Some Veuve Clicquot, a bit of cheese, and Anna apples from Rose & Mark's tree, picked a few hours before.

June 24, breakfast. At Raging Sage, an iced cappuccino and a raspberry scone.

June 24, lunch. Last of the leftover ribs and cole slaw. Those were good ribs. I cooked them for an extra hour to make them extra tender, more than I like, because James (my nephew) has braces. Jan thought that they were too carbonized, but I liked them.

June 24, snack. Two Walker's Belgian chocolate cookies.

June 24, snack. A fresh apple from Rose & Mark's tree.
