July 1, breakfast. Back at NH Hotel München. A roll, some salmon, prosciutto, chorizo, and only three kinds of sausage (depending on whether you consider leberkasen sausage). Plus some cheese.

July 1, snack. A little sandwich of salami and lettuce at the office.

July 1, lunch. Souvlaki at the Restaurant Irodion in München. Pretty good, although a bit salty. I haven't had Greek food in Germany before... In the back is some hot orzo pasta. The meat is wrapped around a mild feta cheese and grilled, but it's not liquid. Actually, I'm not sure it's cheese, but it sure acts like it.

July 1, snack. A little cracker and creme sandwich. The bottom was coated with chocolate, which was nice.

July 1, dinner. You can't make this stuff up in English. Best I can translate this is: "Black Man Chocolate ... for Men." Sounds like something out of a men's magazine! On the back: Fein-herber Edelkakao macht Schwarze Herren Schokolade zu einem besonderen Erlebnis für den anspruchsvollen Genießer. (my lousy translation: Fine bitter cocoa makes Black Man chocolate a special experience for the discerning connoisseur.)

July 2, breakfast. FIVE different kinds of sausage AND Bacon at the breakfast bar today. This place (NH Hotel, München) is interesting because it's different every day. Most international breakfast bars are identical every single day. I tried it this time with good rye bread and a bit of cheese. Plus a cappuccino and grapefruit juice.

July 2, snack. A pretzel!

July 2, lunch. Another tuna salad, this time at a pretty little bier garten outside next to a lake.

July 2, snack. Little cracker candy thingy. München.

July 2, dinner. Schneider beer, of course.

July 2, dinner. Last night, I go down to the bar and have a burger and a beer. The burger is not bad---everything seems fresh. The fries need salt, and there is no salt. Plus I can't remember how to say "salt" in German. Or "diaper," but I don't need one of those.

July 3, breakfast. Back at the NH Hotel in München. Only 3 kinds of sausage today. I skip the bacon in some futile weight-losing attempt which is absolutely irrelevant. Cappuccino and grapefruit juice.

July 3, snack. At Delta Crown room in Munich airport. A pretzel.

July 3, snack. Some little carbohydrate thingies. Delta Crown Room, Munich.

July 3, lunch. Aboard flight Munich to Atlanta. A piece of pretzel bread. This is, after all, Bavaria.

July 3, lunch. Aboard Delta flight Munich to Atlanta. Oh, how disappointing. The thing on the left I don't even know what that was. Mustardy turnip slaw or something awful. On the right, good hummus with vegetables. Should have been pickled. In back, a mediocre Caprese salad.

July 3, lunch. Aboard flight Munich to Atlanta. Cheese, fruit, crackers. The blue was good. The comte-esque was dry. Whatever that thing in back was, it wasn't very good.

July 3, lunch (again; it's a 6 hour time difference). Bad chicken salad aboard Delta flight Munich to Atlanta.

July 3, snack. In Delta club in Atlanta, little chocolate dessert thingies. And a club soda.

July 3, snack. Coffee, coffee, buzz, buzz, buzz and Chocolate from Ben & Jerry's in Atlanta. Mmmm. I guess that was dinner too.

July 4, Breakfast. The usual, plus fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice and a multivitamin. I don't believe that Jan is trying to poison me, but she could be trying to choke me. That thing is huge.

July 4, lunch. A salad at home.

July 4, snack. A fresh white peach. The cat was not involved.

July 4, snack. Agua fresca made from watermelon, lime juice, and water, over ice. Fresh. Refreshing. Delicious. Wonderful on a hot day.

July 4, snack. Some mixed things.

July 4, dinner. Steak, rare. Beans, salad, and a nice cabernet. At Don & Barbara's.

July 4, dinner. Some fresh strawberries. Very good this time of year.

July 4, dessert. Chocolate turtle. That's nuts, bad chocolate, all gooped together. Barbara buys them in bulk at Price Club, which is a bad sign.

July 4, late snack. At Danny & Maryann's. A very, very good chocolate chip cookie and a tecate beer.
