Feb 2, snack. I ate another one about an hour later. Evil me.

Feb 2, Lunch. Curry, eggplant, noodles.

Feb 2, more lunch. I couldn't resist these shrimp.

Feb 2, Snack. Three apricots.

Feb 2, Dinner. Ugh. This is what Silk Air served for dinner. I didn't eat the thing that looks like an upside-down dixie cup. The rest was sort-of edible. Reminds me of the bad-old days of airline food. They're still serving it.

Feb 2, Snack. Very very tiny little oranges. Jan brought these in from Chang Mai.

Feb 3, breakfast. At the Baan Thai resort in Phuket. Dim Sum mostly, a cappuccino, of cours,e and some bacon and toast.

Feb 3, snack. I had some of the BBQ pork from Singapore before heading out to explore Patong Beach.

Feb 3, late lunch. We stopped at a restaurant and picked out a couple of large shrimp and a bass.

Feb 3, lunch. This is the sea bass in Patong. I shared this with Gene. Jan got the shrimp.

Feb 3, lunch. We ordered some mixed vegetables. They were OK.

Feb 3, lunch dessert. While we were eating, a lady was selling fruit to the massage girls on the other side of the restaurant. We called her over and she had cut durian! Very nice, if a bit under-ripe. The girls like it that way because they think they'll gain less weight.

Dinner, Feb 3. First course, some shells steamed with lemon sauce.

Dinner, Feb 3. Sauteed asparagus and morning glory. These are the two main vegetables which are easily available right now. The asparagus are not quite as strong flavored as the ones we get in the US; they're more subtle, like white asparagus (but not blanched, obviously)

Feb 3, Dinner. A whole steamed snapper.

Breakfast, Feb 4. We got up early, so I chanced the omlette station and got a one-egg omlette with powdered Kraft cheese. Fresh-squeezed juice, and the usual cappuccino.

Feb 4, snack. I had a rose apple.

Feb 4, Lunch. Aboard the Scandanavian Divers boat, some buffet lunch Thai food.

Feb 4, dinner. I tried Spaghetti Vongole at one of the many Italian restaurants in Patong Beach. It was not bad, but it wasn't wonderful; certainly not as good as it's done in Rome.

Feb 5, Breakfast. Cappuccino is not really easily possible here, unless I want to go to Starbucks. They have fresh sashimi for breakfast, so I had some.

Feb 5, Breakfast. And some toast.

Feb 5, Snack. I had some of these prawn rolls. Jan thinks they were spicy, but I didn't taste much spice in them.

Feb 5, Lunch. Raya in Phuket Town. I had the fried crab on the recommendation of the owner, which was delicious. Also some rice and a watermelon drink. No beer because we were driving scooters.

Feb 5, lunch. Some mango (not too sweet or slimy) for dessert.

Feb 5, Dinner. Spicy seafood salad at Old Siam.

Feb 5, dinner. A whole fish, beautifully prepared. Old Siam.

Feb 6, Breakfast. Toast, coffee, juice.

Feb 6, Snack. An orange, and it's Happy Chinese New Year Eve!

Feb 6, dinner. Appetizers: fried crab rolls. Very nice.

Feb 6, Dinner. One of the dishes we ate, a fried seabass. Very tasty.
